Some Highlights from Our Club's History:

1963 Founding Commodore from 1961, Maj. George O. Richards, drops his membership here
1964 Clyde Barfield is our first Commodore to appear hatless in the Yachting Yearbook
1965 Clyde Barfield becomes 1st two-term Commodore
1982 Mike Chalmers, whose Father, Charles, served as Commodore in 1975, completes our 1st set of
      Father-Son Commodores
1982 Mike Chalmers is our last Commodore to wear a yachtsman's hat in the Yachting Yearbook
1987 Betty Grace becomes our 1st Lady Commodore
1989 Terry Haschert, whose Father, Ed, served as Commodore in 1970, completes our 2nd set of
      Father-Son Commodores
1994 Ron Potter becomes our 1st Vice-Commodore to assume the post of Commodore in mid-season
1994 Ron Potter, whose Father, Carroll, served as Commodore in 1988, completes our 3rd set of
      Father-Son Commodores
1995 Ron Potter becomes our 2nd 2-term Commodore
1999 Commodore Tom Tucker's "ONE LOVE" becomes the only boat in the history of our fleet to serve for
      2 terms as the Flagship - having had served in 1991 as Commodore Rusty Martindale's "FAME"
2003 Diablo's historic "Devil Head" burgee is retired in favor of the current "Sun over Mt. Diablo" burgee
2011 Diablo Yacht Club celebrates its 50th Anniversary "Change of Watch" at the Ryde Hotel
2011 Ira Fruitman, whose Father, Bob, served as Commodore in 2006, completes our 4th set of
      Father-Son Commodores.
