Lee was our most recent past commodore and an active member in our club.
He was an avid boater who truly loved his time on his boat and on the water.
Lee loved everything boating from the mechanics of a boat to the planning of
trips on the water.
He loved the boating lifestyle, the numerous restaraunts and bars on the water.
He handled his big 57' Chrissy with ease and skill whether in shallow waters of
a marina or in open bay. His fridge was always filled with ice cold beer and his
bar was always stocked.
Lee was always happy to have you come aboard and "talk". Lee was
knowledgeable on numerous subjects and was always willing to give advice
when asked. If you ever had a boat problem Lee was always the first to get in
there and help fix it.
Lee was involved in boating on the east and west coasts and loved to share his
stories from vast boating experiences.
Many of us have become close with Lee over the past several years and will
greatly miss him.
Valerie was always by his side smiling and enjoying their time on the water.
She is a great first mate and a great part of the couple we know them as.
Lee was a great man and a great part of our club. He will be missed.

A few memories of Lee Hollingsworth

My name is Eric.. I am Lee Hollingsworths former brother in law.. I saw Lee's
name on the yacht club listing and thought I would share some memories of
Lee with you.. I have known Lee all my life, I am 59 now. during my younger
years Lee would take me to a burlingame harbor where he had a chris craft..
we would spend a weekend day there while Lee would be doing wood work on
his boat. he took me on outings with his family. he took me on a very nice
vacation in the sacramento delta for a week or two.. and would let me take his
el toro to the bait shop to pick up a 25 lb block of ice with my nephews. those
were fun times.. and when I purchased my boat, a 28ft uniflite, and was
docked in san leandro, I was planning a trip of my own up to the delta but was
unsure of my boating skills, it was Lee that came aboard and went with me to
show me the ropes.. we stopped at pier 39 along the way and had lunch.. and
when we went to leave, one of my motors would not start.. Lee went down
below and somehow jump started my motor and off we went. he seemed to
know how to fix anything. he showed me how to read the map and where not
to go in low tides.. it took us the whole day to get from san leandro to stockton.
he was very generous with his knowledge and his time with me. I had lost
touch with Lee and Valerie over the last 8 years and I'm sorry I did.. Lee was
very good to me and I have nothing but fond memories of him. his passing was
sudden and I'm sorry i was not able to say goodbye. one more thing I will
share with you, when I was around 12 years old, I was at san gregorio beach
with Lee and his family. while I was in the water , a large wave grabbed me and
pulled me out. it was Lee that saved me... I will miss him..
